Recommended Permanent Cosmetics Aftercare (Lips)

1. If there is any swelling, apply an ice pack to the area for 5 to 10 minute sessions. Redness, swelling and bruising are all common and temporary side effects.

2. Do not eat for at least one (1) hour after the procedure.

3. Initially, apply Aquaphor for the first two days. After which time, apply recommended ointment or non-Vaseline products gently with a cotton swab or Q-Tip 3 to 5 times a day for at least 1 week. Suggested products may include Chapstick “All Natural”, shea butter, Coco butter, Eco Lips from any health food store, Reviva Labs Vitamin E-stick from GNC store, or another lip balm that does not contain Vaseline.

4. Rinse lips with warm water after every meal. Keep absolutely clean.

5. Keep area clean, but do not wash with soap for 4 days. Do not rub skin vigorously when washing your face for at least 10 days.

6. You should drink with a straw and use a spoon to introduce food into the mouth for the first 24 hours. You may also want to avoid salty or sour food.

7. Keep area dry. Try to refrain from licking lips immediately after procedure.

8. Your lips will feel chapped for a few days. Applying recommend ointment will help eliminate this feeling.

9. Do not swim in pools or hot tubs for 30 days. If you must use a pool or hot tub, keep lip area as dry as possible and use a light coat of petroleum jelly/ointment on area before entering pool.

10. Avoid the sun as much as possible during the healing process. After the healing stage, always wear sunscreen, at least SPF 30, whenever you are in the sun.

11. NEVER use any lotions or soaps containing Glycolic, Hydroxy or fruit acids on your lips.

12. After approximately 3 days, some of the permanent lip color will flake slightly. Do not try to remove it vigorously with a washcloth or cotton swab. Let flaking occur naturally. With early removal of pigment flakes may result in areas with insufficient pigment.

13. If the area should itch after approximately 3 days, use recommended ointment or apply ice for a few minutes.

14. Do not apply makeup to the tattooed area for 3 days. Use of long-wearing lip stick is not recommended.

15. Around the 5th or 6th day, 50% of the implanted color (depending on the color chosen) may have flaked off and appear too light. Do not panic! This is normal and expected. You now view the color from underneath the skin. Lips change color more than any other procedure. The color gradually returns during the month of healing. Color can even change daily, depending on whether you’re cold, dehydrated or on certain medications. This is the result of the natural blue undertone that is in your lips. Please note that all fine detail work and color modifications are performed in the second session.

16. Signs and symptoms of infection include, but not limited to, severe redness, swelling, tenderness of the procedure site, red streaks going from the procedure site towards the heart, elevated body temperature, or purulent drainage from the procedure site. Discharge from site may be green/yellow in color and foul in odor.
